Everything you need to know about CAILO, from setup to billing.
CAILO is a no-code Tesla Data Integration Platform built for personal drivers, smart home enthusiasts, and fleet operations alike. Drivers get tax-ready ATO logbooks and Tesla charging cost capture. Smart home enthusiasts get Tesla-triggered automations in Home Assistant. Fleet operators get pre-built integration with Navixy and Traccar. One platform. Three solutions.
If you’re a driver, delivery protocols aren’t relevant to you. Just connect CAILO to your Tesla account and start logging your trips. But if you’re here for fleet management or smart home integration, CAILO supports 7 delivery protocols: MQTT, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, Webhooks, Home Assistant native integration, Navixy, and Traccar. Whether you’re feeding a smart home automation, an enterprise data pipeline, or a fleet management platform, CAILO has a protocol that fits.
CAILO delivers 100+ telemetry signals from your Tesla in real time, including location and movement, battery and charging state, vehicle and climate data, energy efficiency metrics, and security signals. The data comes directly from Tesla’s official Fleet Telemetry API.
CAILO is a fully managed cloud service. It requires no hardware in your vehicle, no code to write, and no self-hosted data layer to maintain. If you’re using Home Assistant, you’ll continue running it on your existing Raspberry Pi or hub. CAILO doesn’t add to that. It sends Tesla data straight into your Home Assistant via MQTT auto-discovery, replacing the self-hosted data collection tools that other Tesla integrations require.
Yes. CAILO is built for all three. Drivers get automatic trip tracking, charging cost reports, and tax-ready logbooks. Smart home enthusiasts get real-time vehicle events that trigger Home Assistant automations. Fleet operations get Tesla vehicles in their existing fleet platforms (Navixy, Traccar) with full telemetry.
CAILO connects through the official Tesla Fleet API. There is no hardware to install, no OBD dongles, and no modifications to your vehicle. You simply authorize CAILO with your Tesla account, and data flows automatically.
Absolutely. All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+ and at rest using AES-256. CAILO never stores your Tesla account credentials. We use OAuth token-based authentication instead. You can revoke access at any time from your Tesla account.
CAILO supports 7 delivery protocols including MQTT, Kafka, RabbitMQ, Webhooks, Home Assistant, Navixy, and Traccar. Whether you want to connect to your smart home or a fleet management platform, we have a protocol for you.
CAILO provides access to 100+ telemetry signals including battery level, charging status, location, speed, odometer, tire pressure, cabin temperature, energy consumption, trip history, and much more.
CAILO supports all Tesla models that are compatible with the Tesla Fleet API, including Model S, Model 3, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck. As Tesla expands API support, CAILO automatically gains access to new models.
No. CAILO is a cloud-based, read-only integration that uses Tesla's official Fleet API. It does not install anything on your vehicle, does not modify any systems, and has no impact on your warranty or battery life.
You can log into the CAILO Portal at any time to check your vehicle's connection status. You can also verify connectivity directly from your Tesla by tapping the touchscreen console. Navigate to Settings and look for third-party connection details under the vehicle's data sharing preferences.
CAILO connects to your Tesla through the official Fleet API. Every trip, charging session, and vehicle event is captured automatically in the cloud. At the completion of every trip you are notified to classify the trip or you can set and forget frequent trips. Then, you drive as normal and CAILO records everything.
CAILO captures the data points required for ATO vehicle logbook records: trip dates, start and end locations, distances, and odometer readings. The data is captured automatically from your Tesla’s telemetry, producing records that are more complete and accurate than any manual logbook. CAILO is designed to meet the ATO’s logbook method record-keeping requirements, including the 12-week logbook period and beyond. CAILO is a record-keeping tool, not tax advice. We recommend confirming your specific situation with your accountant or tax agent.
Yes. CAILO supports business vs personal trip classification so you can accurately calculate your business kilometre percentage. This is essential for novated lease FBT calculations and sole trader tax deductions.
CAILO generates per-trip records with the start, end, distance, duration, and purpose information accountants and tax agents are familiar with. Records export as standard PDF and CSV/Excel files any accountant can open. The data is detailed enough to answer any follow-up questions.
CAILO produces exportable data in formats that accountants and bookkeepers can open and work with directly. Trip records, charging costs, and kilometre summaries are available for download from your CAILO dashboard at any time.
Yes. CAILO works the same regardless of how you own or lease the vehicle. Trip data, charging session records, and the export formats are equally useful for novated lease reimbursement claims and FBT calculations.
Yes. CAILO captures charging session data including energy added (kWh), charging duration, and charge rate. For home charging, this data can be used to calculate your electricity cost per session based on your tariff rate, supporting legitimate business expense claims. Once you have updated your tariff rate on the platform, CAILO calculates and tracks your costs.
No. CAILO is a cloud-based, read-only integration that uses Tesla’s official Fleet API. It does not install anything on your vehicle, does not modify any systems, and has no impact on your warranty or battery life.
For sole traders and business owners using their Tesla as a business vehicle, the CAILO subscription may be a deductible business expense. We recommend confirming this with your accountant or tax advisor based on your specific circumstances.
Most mileage apps need you to check in at the start and end of every trip. They miss the trips you forget to log. CAILO connects to your Tesla directly through the Tesla Fleet API, so every trip is captured automatically with detail (battery state, charging sessions, full route data) no phone-based app can match.
CAILO maintains the connection to Tesla’s Fleet API as part of the service. When Tesla changes things, we update on our end. Your records keep flowing.
Your data is stored securely under your account. You can export it, delete it, or close your account at any time. Detailed privacy and data handling are covered in our privacy policy.
CAILO provides pre-built connectors for both Navixy and Traccar. Your Tesla vehicles appear as tracked devices in your existing fleet platform with full telemetry data. No custom development, no API coding, and no IT project required. Configuration takes minutes, not months.
No. CAILO is a cloud-based integration that connects through Tesla's official Fleet API. There is no hardware to install, no OBD dongles, and no modifications to your vehicles. You simply authorize CAILO with your Tesla fleet account and data flows automatically.
CAILO absorbs all Tesla API change risk. When Tesla updates their Fleet API, our team updates the CAILO platform. Your integration and data flow continue uninterrupted. This is a core advantage over building and maintaining a custom integration in-house.
Yes. CAILO is built on cloud-native infrastructure designed to scale from a handful of vehicles to thousands. Per-vehicle pricing means your costs scale linearly and predictably as your Tesla fleet grows.
All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+ and at rest using AES-256. CAILO follows OWASP security best practices, maintains complete audit trails, and is GDPR-compliant. We never store Tesla account credentials and use OAuth token-based authentication.
Absolutely. CAILO feeds Tesla data into your existing fleet management platform (Navixy, Traccar, or custom) so all vehicles appear in one unified view. Your ICE vehicles continue using their existing hardware trackers while Teslas are covered by CAILO.
You are not adding a new platform, you are adding a connector. CAILO does not replace Navixy, Traccar, or any other system. It makes your existing platform work for your entire fleet, including the Teslas that are currently invisible to it.
CAILO connects to your existing Home Assistant via MQTT auto-discovery. Your Tesla appears as native Home Assistant entities, ready to use in automations, dashboards, and scripts, with no custom YAML required. You keep running Home Assistant on your Raspberry Pi or hub of choice. CAILO replaces the self-hosted data collection layer and the maintenance that comes with it, so your automations keep working when Tesla updates the API.
CAILO delivers 100+ telemetry signals in real time including arrivals, departures, charging start/stop, battery level changes, climate state, door/window status, and location updates. Any of these can trigger automations via MQTT or webhooks.
Yes. CAILO supports any MQTT broker, so you can connect to Mosquitto, HiveMQ, or any MQTT-compatible system. You can also use webhooks to integrate with virtually any automation platform.
